Modern Link Attack. Extra Projection. Two Expressions.
The Otto Link LA represents the most modern extension of the Otto Link voice ever created. Designed for contemporary players and contemporary stages, the LA blends the unmistakable Otto Link core with added clarity, immediacy, and projection, delivering a mouthpiece that responds quickly, cuts confidently, and still feels grounded in the Link tradition.
This is not a departure from Otto Link. It’s an expansion of what an Otto Link can do.
Originally introduced as a hard rubber design, the LA platform has now expanded into both hard rubber and metal, giving players two distinct expressions of the same modern Link concept, each tailored to different tonal needs and playing environments.
Whether you choose hard rubber or metal, the Otto Link LA is designed to meet the demands of modern playing without abandoning the legacy that made Otto Link iconic. It offers players a clear choice of feel and response, while preserving a shared tonal identity.
The LA doesn’t replace classic Links.
It gives modern players a Link that speaks their language.
A Classic Core, Tuned for Modern Performance
At the heart of the LA is a design built for speed and presence. Incorporating a smaller chamber and higher baffle, the LA delivers fast attack, focused response, and the kind of projection modern players often need without forcing the sound into harshness. The result is a mouthpiece that speaks immediately, stays articulate under pressure, and offers an extra “gear” when pushed.
What sets the LA apart is that this modern edge is built on a true Otto Link foundation. Even at its most forward, the sound retains a centered core, a satisfying low register, and a musical balance that keeps it from feeling thin or brittle.
In this new era, the LA is executed with tighter process control and repeatability through our manufacturing partnership with Theo Wanne Mouthpieces, ensuring that whichever LA you choose reflects the design intent with greater consistency and confidence.
LA Hard Rubber. Warm Foundation. Modern Edge.
The Otto Link LA Hard Rubber begins with JJ Babbitt’s proprietary molded and vulcanized hard rubber process, which establishes a rich tonal foundation and the familiar Link “core” players expect. That warmth and depth are especially present in the low register, giving the mouthpiece a satisfying body even at softer dynamics.
When pushed, the LA Hard Rubber shifts into its modern role, delivering added clarity, edge, and focused projection that is uncommon in traditional hard rubber Links. This makes it an ideal choice for players who want the flexibility to move between warm, lyrical playing and more assertive, contemporary expression, all while retaining the feel and response of hard rubber.
LA Metal. Maximum Projection. Fastest Response.
The Otto Link LA Metal takes the same modern design intent and expresses it with the immediacy and power that only metal can provide. With a quicker response and more pronounced projection, the LA Metal is built for players who need presence up front, whether in amplified settings, louder ensembles, or situations where cutting through the mix is essential.
Like all current Otto Link metal mouthpieces, the LA Metal is produced from a single piece of brass, allowing tighter control over internal geometry and dimensional consistency. Extensive R&D and validation confirmed that while metallurgical differences between construction methods are subtle, they are not significant enough to alter the playing experience in a meaningful, player-detectable way. What does change is reliability and confidence.
The LA Metal delivers the most immediate and assertive version of the LA concept, while still maintaining the tonal balance that keeps it unmistakably Link.
